Job summary

St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic, NJ is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide hands-on support to patients during night shifts. The role reports to the Registered Nurse and focuses on daily living activities, basic nursing care, and maintaining a safe unit environment.

CNA certification and BLS are required or must be obtained shortly after hire. Qualification candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and ideally six months of acute care or physician’s office

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required for the role.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Provides basic nursing care under RN supervision.
• Maintains a safe environment on the unit.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as Applicable Required)

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $17.50 to $23.55.
