Mass General Brigham is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Assistant for the Newton-Wellesley Hospital campus. The role supports licensed personnel by assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, and basic clinical tasks during night shifts onsite.

Responsibilities include documentation in the EHR, patient feeding assistance, room maintenance, and aiding in admissions/discharges while fostering teamwork and professional growth within the PCA team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential preferred.
  • EMT-Paramedic preferred.
  • Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred.
  • 1-2 years patient care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care duties, vital signs, phlebotomy, and 1:1 observation as assigned.
  • Document height/weight, intake/output, and glucose in the EHR.
  • Assist with meals, feeding, and patient comfort.
  • Stock, prepare, and clean patient rooms and equipment.
  • Assist with admitting and discharging patients.
  • Support orientation of new PCA team members.
  • Communicate with nursing staff promptly about patient needs.

Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential Functions-Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy.
