Visiting Angels Birmingham is seeking caring individuals to join our team as Patient Care Assistants (PCA). The Birmingham office serves the Northern Birmingham area, including Trussville and surrounding communities, offering companionship and compassionate home care to seniors in need.

Responsibilities include assisting with medications, mobility, personal care, meal planning, and light housekeeping, while providing a supportive, respectful presence to clients and families.

Qualifications

• Passion to serve others and provide compassionate care.
• Strong emergency response and first aid knowledge.
• Respectful, empathetic, and good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (appointments, walks).
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Help clients with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients when able.
• Shop for clients or accompany them on shopping trips.
• Perform light housekeeping duties.
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
