Job summary

Visiting Angels Lufkin, TX is seeking a Patient Care Assistant - PCA to support seniors in Deep East Texas, including Crockett and Lufkin. This role focuses on compassionate in-home care, mobility assistance, and daily living support within local families.

You will receive advanced training opportunities in dementia and Alzheimer's care, a flexible schedule with full-time or part-time shifts, and pay from $11.00 to $13.00 per hour plus benefits and bonuses.

Qualifications

• Passion to serve others and care for seniors.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care preferred.
• 2 years of professional elderly care experience or CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility around the home.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene.
• Assist with routine exercises and activities.
• Plan and prepare meals with client input.
• Shop for groceries or accompany clients to appointments.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks.
• Provide companionship and report incidents or emergencies.

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (Transferring assistance using hoyer lifts or gait belts or walkers and wheelchairs.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (Bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client's shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, dr appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can't complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Requirements

• Passion to serve others - a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Experience with Bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience with Transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia
• 2 years professional experience with the elderly in a Facility or with an agency or have a CNA certification
