The Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Assistant to support licensed staff and help patients with daily living activities at 75 Francis Street, onsite.

You will perform vital signs, document in the EMR, assist with hygiene and mobility, and relay health concerns to nurses. Scheduling includes nights/weekends; pay range is $20.58–$26.58 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• BLS Certification and relevant credentials preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in patient care/elder care is beneficial (1–2 years).
• Strong communication and computer skills for EMR use.

Responsabilités

• Perform vital signs, weights/heights, intakes/outputs with accuracy.
• Complete documentation in the medical record.
• Interact effectively with patients and families.
• Assist with basic hygiene tasks and positioning.
• Aid patient transfers between bed and wheelchair as needed.
• Report health concerns to nurses as they arise.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions-Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.

• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Experience

Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Scheduling Requirements

Ability to complete a minimum of 250 hours within 12 months with the expectation that 50% will be considered “off-shift” (nights/weekends)

Expectation to work one winter and one summer holiday/year
