Job summary

Temple Health seeks a Patient Care Assistant for the Night Shift to support nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care, comfort, and safety in a fast-paced hospital environment.

You will monitor vital signs, perform ECGs, assist with activities of daily living, and document changes for the care plan. If not already certified, you must complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program or completion of clinical rotation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision.
• Measure vital signs and perform ECGs.
• Assist with activities of daily living and comfort needs.
• Monitor equipment and report changes to the nurse.
• Adhere to confidentiality and hospital customer service policies.
• Complete onsite nursing certification within 90 days if not certified.

Job Description - Patient Care Assistant- NRO - 40HR Night Shift (264301)

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs. Provides comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs. Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition. Incorporates the concepts of the Hospital's Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities (i.e. confidentiality, responsiveness, caring). Accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee for all activities. Adheres to policies and procedures of the department. If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program Preferred

Experience

• 1 year experience in a patient care role Preferred

Licenses

• Basic Life Support Required
• Certified Medical Assistant Preferred
• Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred
