Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Saint Joseph East in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to help patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their daily life activities.

You will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital signs, room preparation, and basic care needs. You’ll be diligent, observant, and ready to accept coaching to ensure compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or SRNA
• 1-3 years One (1) year direct patient care experience
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
• Monitors and records vital signs
• Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
• Obtains and records daily weight
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter
• Reports changes in patient’s status promptly to RN
• Performs as patient care companion when needed
• Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process
• Performs unit housekeeping needs
• Acts as a runner/transporter

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.
