The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. seeks patient care assistants to support licensed personnel in daily living activities, vital sign checks, and basic clinical tasks at the 75 Francis Street site in Boston. A $750 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible new PCA hires.

Responsibilities include documenting care, communicating with patients and families, and assisting with hygiene and mobility. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; BLS/MA/Nurse Aide certifications are preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No substitution of experience for education is allowed.

Job Summary

A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions.

Summary Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

• Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred

Experience

Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Pay Range
