Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant II to support inpatient nursing units under the supervision of registered nurses. You will work closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met, perform delegated care activities, and uphold patient safety standards.

The role emphasizes basic medical terminology, efficient communication, and proficiency with common clinical software and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with technical skills/training relevant to the specialty area.
• Two (2) years related clinical experience (clinical rotations acceptable).
• Basic Life Support from an AHA-approved program.
• Aggression Management certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is accountable for supporting patient care activities, under the supervision of a registered nurse, on inpatient nursing units. The PCA II works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care needs are met. The PCA II performs patient care activities, as delegated, and adheres to patient safety measures. The PCA II is proficient in the performance of basic patient care activities, medical terminology, communication, organizational, and computer skills. The PCA II demonstrates and role models personal and professional effectiveness.

Education

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED plus technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician-Basic; Nursing students actively attending an accredited nursing program are exempt of certification requirement provided a satisfactory completion of first clinical/foundations course.
• Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
• Aggression Management certification within 90 days of hire
• EKG, and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.

Work Experience: Two (2) years related clinical experience (experience in nursing program clinical rotations is applicable)
