Job summary

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) at Harris Health supports patient care activities on inpatient nursing units under the supervision of registered nurses. You will work closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met and safety procedures are followed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant technical skills, plus necessary certifications (CNA/CMA/EMT-B) and BLS, with 2 years of related clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician-Basic; nursing students actively attending an accredited nursing program are exempt of certification requirement provided a satisfactory completion of first clinical/foundations course.
• Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
• Aggression Management certification within 90 days of hire
• EKG, and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.
• Two (2) years related clinical experience (experience in nursing program clinical rotations is applicable)

Education

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED plus technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician-Basic; Nursing students actively attending an accredited nursing program are exempt of certification requirement provided a satisfactory completion of first clinical/foundations course.
• Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
