Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Assistant II is a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The role involves assisting in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.

Essential Functions

1. Perform patient care duties and clinical functions as assigned, including documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing, assisting with ambulation, feeding, and other patient needs. Assist RNs and physicians with exams and treatments as required.
2. Ensure patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately based on needs and patient volume.
3. Perform specimen collection and document all relevant information.
4. Retrieve, set up, clean, and report malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
5. Document patient information such as height, weight, fluid intake, output, and blood glucose results.
6. Assist patients with food tray setup and eating if necessary.
7. Communicate effectively and promptly with nursing staff regarding patient care and conditions.
8. Receive and direct medical staff, personnel, patients, and visitors.
9. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Note: This position requires direct patient care.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Experience cannot substitute for education.

Licenses and Credentials: BLS Certificate preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years of healthcare experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to multitask, handle stress, knowledge of medical terminology, typing and computer skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to lift and transport patients safely.
