Job summary

Phelps Health in Missouri is hiring a Patient Care Assistant for the Float Pool on a full-time schedule. The PCA works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities include vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with feeding, bathing, toileting, and activity, plus safe patient handling and accurate documentation. CNA preferred; BLS required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year experience preferred.
• CNA certification preferred; BLS within first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, shift manager).
• Record vital signs and glucometer checks.
• Assist with feeding, bathing, toileting, and activity as needed.
• Follow infection control and safety policies and notify the nurse of changes in patient condition.
• Document care activities and communicate pertinent information to the health care team.
