Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, provide basic nursing care, and help maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge.

The role requires a high school diploma, Illinois CNA certification, and knowledge of medical terminology; phlebotomy, EKG, and BLS are preferred. Prior acute care hospital or physician office experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA certification (Illinois approved) required.
• Phlebotomy certification on hire, preferred.
• EKG certification on hire, preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months in acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.

• Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Illinois approved Certification required.
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $18.00 to $26.68. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
