Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support licensed personnel in daily patient care activities at our Onsite 70 Francis Street location. You will assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, vital signs, and documentation in the EMR, while upholding patient safety and comfort during the night shift.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and may offer a $750 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires in PCA positions. BLS/ CMA/LNA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
  • Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) – Generic – HR Only preferred; Certified Medical Assistant – Generic – HR Only preferred; Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician – Generic – HR Only preferred; Nursing Assistant (LNA – New Hampshire) – New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  • Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, e.g., bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Assists patients in turning and repositioning in bed and moving to a wheelchair if needed.
  • Listens to health concerns and reports them to the nurses.

Job Summary

A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions. Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  • Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
  • Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
  • Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Licenses and Credentials
  • Basic Life Support [BLS] – Generic – HR Only preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] – Generic – HR Only preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] – Generic – HR Only preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant [LNA – New Hampshire] – New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred.
Experience

Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
