Job summary

Medical Center Health System in Odessa, TX seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support patient monitoring, care, clerical tasks, and coordination under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. Direct patient care is provided under the RN's direction and within nursing practice guidelines, with additional duties as trained.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within 90 days of hire, and completion of computer training, plus the ability to pass a basic arrhythmia

Qualifications

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist in patient monitoring, patient care, clerical, coordination, and receptionist duties. Direct patient care is done under the direction of the RN and within the scope of sound professional nursing practice to be delegated. They will also perform other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained.

Qualifications

A. Education and Certification:

• High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within ninety (90) daysof hire.

B. Training and Experience:

• Must successfully complete computer training.
• Must be able to successfully pass a basic arrhythmia test with a scoreof 80% or better, prior to employment.
• Knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and hospitalpolicies and procedures.
