Job summary

Visiting Angels of Bettendorf is hiring a Patient Care Aide (PCA) for clients in the Quad Cities area. Location includes Davenport, Bettendorf and surrounding communities.

Pay is $14.00–$16.00 per hour, with benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance, holiday pay, direct deposit, and weekly pay. The PCA provides in-home care to seniors, supporting personal care, light housekeeping, meal planning and mobility assistance, while staying within the home environment and maintaining dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to client visits and good time management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
• Must pass background check and drug screen.
• First aid and emergency response training is a plus.
• Willingness to comply with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

A Visiting Angels Patient Care Aide - PCA wears many hats as they help our elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

While no two client visits look exactly alike, responsibilities may include:

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks

A Patient Care Aide - PCA must also be prepared to act quickly in the case of medical emergencies. This includes adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances. Our caregivers possess the ideal blend of competency, compassion, and professional discernment.
