Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide personal care and supportive services to patients under licensed staff supervision. The role requires performing routine patient care tasks, ensuring safety, and supporting overall unit operations to enhance patient experience.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, documenting vitals, and participating in ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate clearly in standard English, in writing and speech.
• 1 year hospital or long-term care experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
• Assists with procedures for patient population in line with policies and procedures.
• Provides for patient safety and comfort and participates in ongoing educational activities.
• Completes assigned goals and assists with admission, transfer and discharge processes as needed.
• Assists patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding (CHG baths).
• Obtains and documents vital signs, weights, and other measurements at designated intervals.
• Distributes water and approved fluids as requested.
• Assists with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and mobility as appropriate.
• Responds to patient call lights promptly and professionally.
• Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
• Maintains a clean, safe, organized patient care environment.
• Supports fall prevention and skin integrity initiatives.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Promotes patient comfort, dignity, and responsiveness to support a positive experience.
