Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium is seeking an experienced billing specialist to perform a variety of patient accounts tasks, including insurance and self-pay billing, remit analysis, cash posting, and AR management. The role supports month-end close processes and requires collaboration with financial counselors for funding alternatives.

Qualifications

• Two years of billing, collections and/or cash posting experience.
• Knowledge of hospital or clinic billing and follow up.
• Knowledge of payor remittances and basic CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Familiarity with Revenue Codes and insurance claim forms.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Validates changes and billing information per policy.
• Ensures proper charge codes, billing and adjudication of claims.
• Stays current on payor-specific charging and billing rules.
• Assists with special billing/rebill projects and follow ups.
• Answers patient billing questions and resolves accounts and denials.
• Monitors delinquent self-pay accounts and coordinates debt repayment.
• Posts all cash and electronically transferred funds within 3 business days.
• Reconciles payments and monitors bank deposits.
• Logs denials and supports follow-up with the billing team.
