Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a patient financial services clerk to support scanning, filing, and review of patient billing at an introductory level. You will help with third-party and patient billing and assist in resolving billing questions while upholding rigorous attention to detail.

You will perform core revenue cycle tasks including data entry, claims processing, insurance follow up, and patient communication, maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of medical claims processing.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel, and data entry.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and revenue cycle functions.

Responsibilities

• Engages in core revenue cycle functions such as billing, claims filing, data entry, charge entry, insurance follow up, denial management, payment posting, customer service, and billing records review.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines and department policies.
• Prepares and submits clean claims to insurance companies electronically or on paper accurately and timely.
• Processes reports, worklists, and patient accounts with high accuracy.
• Collaborates with management and coworkers in an open and positive manner.
• Communicates with patients about their accounts, answers billing questions, and explains payment options.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and benefits and coordinates with insurers to resolve discrepancies.
