• Interviews patient or representative and enters admission information.
• Collects patient details for admission: name, address, religion, contacts, physician, payer.
• Explains hospital regulations and charges.
• Enters admitting information into computer and routes documents.
• Obtain consent statements to protect hospital interests.
• Directs medical record requests ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• May compile occupancy or census data.
• Processes payments on account; works on daily deposit summary.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by communicating them to others.
• Provides admissions and intake services by conducting, screening and/or assessing patients.
• Responds to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking health care or information health-related services.
• Interviews incoming patient or representative and enters information required for admission into computer.
• Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record details for admission.
• Explains hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges.
• Escorts patient or arranges for escort to assigned room or ward.
• Enters patient admitting information into computer and routes printed copy to designated department.
• Obtains signed statements from patients to protect hospital interests.
• Reviews information requests to ensure HIPAA and other regulations are met.
• May support occupancy/census data collection and daily deposit summaries.
• Other duties as assigned.
