Position Description

As the Patient Account Specialist, you are responsible for providing high quality customer service and professionalism to all patients via phone, electronic communication, and in person. You will ensure that all patient billing questions, complaints, and requests of any kind are promptly addressed in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains approachable and positive attitude interacting with all levels of personnel in a rapidly changing environment
  • Provide patients with compassion, trust and deliver excellent service that aligns with our mission to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley
  • Engage with clients in a friendly and professional manner while actively listening to their concerns
  • Offer support and solutions to customers in accordance with the company's customer service policies
  • Answer incoming customer inquiries and questions regarding provider information
  • Record customer information within our customer service database
  • Conducts follow up calls to patients for collecting outstanding balances
  • Complete data entry and payment posting tasks as needed
  • Complete work queues as assigned
  • Complete collections process
  • Answer basic billing questions
    • EOB, deductible, coinsurance
    • In vs. out of network
  • Load new/updated insurance
  • Review billing notes to see if answers to patient questions are easily identified
  • Escalate difficult/complex billing-related questions or concerns to the Billing review WQ for a Claims Analyst to handle
  • Complete all other duties as assigned
  • Work a flexible schedule within the clinic or department hours based on clinical demand or need

Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare or billing environment, preferred but not required
  • Previous experience and understanding of insurance processes in a clinic setting, preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in a flexible team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, handle a high volume of calls and prioritize daily tasks
  • Detail oriented and understand basic billing functions
  • Experience working in Epic is preferred
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
