Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Two years of medical insurance billing/collections or two years of customer service experience.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn multiple technology platforms including Google Drive and in-house medical charting system.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Adaptability to workflow changes for process improvement.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally on the telephone with clients and participants.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all patient account functions to ensure timely and accurate processing per SOW and carrier specs.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding eligibility, insurance, balances and CoPays.
  • Calculate, collect, and reconcile patient financial responsibilities.
  • Prepare and send patient statements monthly.
  • Coordinate renewal processes and update eligibility/billing files.
  • Obtain updated insurance information as needed.
  • Prepare and mail invoices monthly.
  • Collaborate with CareTeam for patient retention and send eligibility letters.
  • Gather patient data for insurance claims and update subledgers and billing systems.
  • Reconcile active patients monthly and manage renewals.
  • Assist with filing and reconciliation of insurance claims.

About the role

The Patient Account Representative is a valued member of the Nox Health team and contributes to achieving departmental and organizational goals through collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. We are looking for a Patient Account Representative to join our SleepCharge RCM team. The Patient Account Representative is responsible for a number of patient account functions to ensure all participant claims are processed timely and accurately according to client-specific statement of work (SOW) and/or insurance carrier specifications. Participant accounting functions include: eligibility, verification of benefits, billing, collections, customer service, cash applications, documentation of participant activity, invoicing and oversight of renewal process.

What you'll do
  • Responsible for all VOBs and documentation in the patient record
  • Communicate internally and externally and respond to inquiries regarding patient eligibility, insurance, balances and CoPays
  • Calculate, collect and reconcile patient financial responsibilities
  • Prepare and send patient statements monthly
  • Manage the annual renewal process for patients which includes: - Determine patient eligibility & update renewal eligibility/billing files - Complete VOB and document on patient record
  • Obtain updated insurance information as needed
  • Prepare and mail invoices monthly
  • Coordinate with CareTeam as needed for patient retention & send letters regarding eligibility
  • Prepare and send patient receipts
  • Gather patient data for insurance claims billing & update patient subledger & claims billing systems
  • Update patient record for past due patient balances and communicate balances internally
  • Reconcile active patients monthly and ensure patients are renewed or terminated timely
  • Assist with filing and reconciliation of insurance claims
  • Assist with general accounting responsibilities, as needed, including, but not limited to: mail processing and deposits
  • Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Two (2) years experience of medical insurance patient billing/collections OR Two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Basic Microsoft Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn a variety of technology platforms, including Google Drive and in-house medical charting system
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Ability to adapt proficiently to workflow changes necessary for process improvement
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to speak effectively and professionally on the telephone, with client contacts and participants, and with fellow employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to accurately document notes, write routine reports and correspondence.
