Responsibilities

  • Maintains understanding of Registration modules in Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System to pre-register/register patients and update status (99% accuracy after 6 months).
  • Interprets insurance information and insurance cards.
  • Uses software applications for chart and order repositories.
  • Manages downtime procedures and re-initiation of HIS and DIS.
  • Checks patient insurance eligibility via websites.
  • Completes patient financial screening to facilitate needs and reimbursement.
  • Processes patient payments and explains financial reasonability, including good faith estimates, payment plans and post-service postings.

Job Description: Position Summary

Responsible for coordination of all activities related to patient access including answering all incoming phone calls, scheduling and registration, patient check-in and check-out, routing of patient-related phone calls to the appropriate department and referral management.

  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required and must be 19 years of age.

Work Environment

General private physician office setting. Open office arrangement with some exposure to noise. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Physical Demands
  • Stand and/or walk frequently.
  • Sit constantly.
  • Lift and/or carry 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Push and/or pull 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Bend, stoop, crawl and squat occasionally.
  • Reach oor to overhead occasionally.
  • Visual acuity, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination within normal limits.
Essential Functions
  1. Maintains a thorough understanding of the Registration modules in the Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System in order to pre-register and register patients and well as being able to correct or update database to reflect changes in patient status, patient transfer, newborn admissions, and discharges. After six months of employment, maintains a minimum accuracy rate of at least 99%.
  2. Ability to interpret insurance information and insurance cards.
  3. Demonstrates proper use of software applications to carry out duties. This would include the chart repository, and order repository.
  4. Ability to manage downtime procedures and re-initiation of Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System.
  5. Ability to check patient insurance eligibility, though websites.
  6. Ability to complete a patient financial screening, to facilitate patient's needs, and financial reimbursement
  7. Process patient payments and explain financial reasonability, including but not limited to creation and explanation of a good faith estimate, payment plans and post service payment posting
