Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patient intake and registration at the Aiken, SC campus. You will greet patients, collect demographic information, and facilitate accurate registration in line with hospital policies to enable care and reimbursement.

The role requires strong customer service, familiarity with insurance processing (verification and authorization), and the ability to use standard office equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business or related major required; equivalent office experience may be considered.
• Minimum of two years in a health care facility or equivalent position.
• Basic medical terminology, phone etiquette, Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of insurance processing requirements (authorization, verification, terms, regulations) and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and process all non-scheduled patients to collect demographic information per regulations and hospital policy.
• Explain required forms and assist with registration process (Living Will, MSP questionnaire, financial authorization, etc.).
• Utilize office equipment (fax, scanner, copier, embosser) and support insurance processing requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service across phone, email, in person interactions; support other duties as assigned.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for greeting, collecting and processing all non-scheduled patients to gather the necessary demographic information required in accordance with all regulations and hospital policies to provide care for the patients, procure reimbursement verification from third parties and maintain records appropriately.

Duties:

• Displays excellent customer service skills while interacting with customers via phone, e-mail, correspondence or in person.
• Ability to explain all required forms inherent to the registration process. i.e.; Living Will, MSP questionnaire, financial authorization, Search America release, etc.
• Demonstrates the ability to utilize all types of office equipment such as fax machine, scanner, copier, embosser, etc.
• Demonstrates a good understanding of Insurance processing requirements i.e.; (verification, authorization, terms, requirements and regulations).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
