Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Patient Access Representative to ensure a welcoming patient experience during registration, scheduling, and pre-registration processes. This role supports accurate patient demographics, insurance verification, and financial clearance while maintaining confidentiality in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential duties include registration, scheduling, pre-registration, and counseling on financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 1–3 years related work experience. Healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with computer systems and basic Microsoft Office.
• Call Center / telephone customer service experience.
• Strong typing skills (40+ wpm).
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiar with EHR Software.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients presenting for visits and explains the registration process.
• Processes patient payments, safeguards cash, and reconciles cash drawer daily.
• Completes Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjusts coverage as needed.
• Obtains signatures on consent and financial forms and scans documents.
• Counsels patients on non-covered services and ABNs.
• Monitors waiting area for smooth registration flow and notifies delays.
• Responds to patient concerns and safety issues following procedures.
