Job summary

Marshall Medical Centers in Lake Guntersville region is seeking a Patient Access Clerk to verify patient demographics and insurance information, support billing, and guide patients through scheduling and admissions.

The role requires basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), cash handling, and strong customer service. Prior healthcare or service experience is preferred.

You will join a team within Huntsville Hospital Health System, dedicated to high-quality patient care and accurate billing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in healthcare and/or customer service preferred.
• Working knowledge of Word/Excel/Outlook and money management.

Responsibilities

• Verifying Demographic patient information including address, phone number, insurance
• Obtaining pre-certs and insurance authorizations for scheduled procedures
• Collection of co-pays, deductibles, and deposits
• Directing and escorting patients and visitors to designated locations
• Provides a resource for billing and payment inquiries
• Oversees cashier responsibilities in posting payments and creating deposits facility specific
• Maintains accuracy through provided vendor service and department policy
• Complete all required annual competencies
• Adheres to Hospital procedure in regards to requirements for outpatient orders
• Obtains room assignments through provided vendor services and communicates admissions to appropriate Nursing and clinical staff
