Job Summary
Southwest Care Center is seeking a full‑time Technical Support Analyst (Patient Access Specialist) to support our facilities in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. The role provides direct and indirect customer support to the clinical team, including pre‑registration, financial determination, appointment scheduling, and other front‑office functions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clinic staff and SCC departments to ensure appropriate workflow within the clinic.
- Serve as liaison between the Patient Access Specialist, Patient Access Supervisor, and all staff.
- Provide exceptional service excellence to patients and guests by demonstrating a positive, patient‑focused and professional manner at all times.
- Adhere to scheduling protocol, manage calls from the telephone system, transfer calls to appropriate staff members or departments, retrieve voicemail messages promptly.
- Use electronic scheduling software to enter and track patient interactions, update accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of electronic scheduling software, electronic health record and scanning, and act as EMR super‑user.
- Verify insurance eligibility for each patient visit and maintain accurate records.
- Operate point‑of‑sale system, balance cash at the end of day, prepare daily batch reconciliation.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities include self‑direction, critical‑thinking, excellent communication and patient‑service skills, ability to work independently and promote a positive, service‑oriented team environment.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations, perform computer tasks with average proficiency, and maintain a calm, professional, courteous and helpful demeanor in high‑pressure situations.
- Strong decision‑making skills to benefit patients and meet SCC objectives.
- Ability to prioritize work, complete tasks on a timely basis with minimal supervision, follow procedures, and adapt to change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, accurate English reading, writing, spelling, and medical terminology usage.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills, basic workstation operation, and ability to manage multiple usernames and passwords.
- Problem‑solving skills related to computer issues, familiarity with Windows Explorer and electronic file handling.
- Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance are required.
