Job summary

Abington Memorial Hospital in Warminster, PA is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide a positive patient experience by registering patients and collecting demographic and insurance information. The role supports outpatients, verifies coverage, and collects copayments at the point of service.

Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for success in this full-time daytime position. Work schedule is 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years customer service experience required.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance verification preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Summary

Provides a positive patient experience to patients and families. Demonstrates strong communication and customer service skills while registering patients. Accurately searches and selects the correct patient. Gathers complete and accurate demographic and insurance information from patients and families. Identifies uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation. Retrieves orders, confirms medical necessity and answers phones for outpatient visits.

Job Duties

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
• Gathers accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Requests and scans photo ID and insurance cards.
• Verifies insurance coverage, referrals, and authorizations.
• Collects patient out-of-pocket liability at time of service.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 3 years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
