Job summary

Optum, in partnership with Allina Health, is seeking a Patient Access Intermediate in Minneapolis to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance, and complete intake in the EMR system.

The role requires 2+ years of customer service, 1+ year revenue cycle experience, and proficiency with MS Office. A daytime, biweekly rotating schedule is offered, with a $1,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants.

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to work a biweekly rotating schedule from 6:00am - 2:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patient in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in or interview patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
• Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results
• Obtains cost information and explains information to patient if necessary
• Obtains signatures from patients as needed
• Collects co-pay or deductibles
• Determines patient need for financial counseling and offers to explain resources available
• May order supplies in designated work area
• Uses resources, tools, and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
• Assists patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department
• May gather medical record information from all departments for collection and distribution

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of customer service experience
• 1+ years of revenue cycle experience
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to work the following biweekly rotating schedule from 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
  • Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday - Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule

PreferredQualifications:

• General office experience
• Experience with electronic medical records
