Job summary

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative 2 (On-Site) in Miami to register patients for clinical services, verify insurance benefits, explain pertinent documents, and collect payments. As a full-time on-site position, you will work Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, collaborating with scheduling and clinical teams to ensure smooth financial clearance and patient flow.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
  • Ability to process confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Responsibilities

  • Registers patients for clinical services and collects payments.
  • Obtains missing insurance information by contacting families or offices.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and notifies patients and physicians when needed.
  • Collaborates with scheduling to identify add-on patients.
  • Obtains authorizations, pre-certifications, referrals.
  • Notifies patients of liabilities and collects funds.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records in the system.
  • Adheres to policies and safeguards university assets.

Location: UHealth Tower Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

The Patient Access Representative 2 (On-Site) registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, explaining pertinent documents, and collecting payments.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Obtains, confirms, and enters demographic, financial, and clinical information necessary for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
  • Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
  • Verifies insurance and confirms insurance eligibility of patient coverage benefits, notifying patient and referring physician in the event of failed eligibility.
  • Collaborates with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
  • Obtains necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
  • Notifies patients of liabilities and collects funds.
  • Maintains appropriate records, files, and accurate documentation in the system of record.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
