Job Summary

This position reports to the Patient Access Manager and is responsible for all functions relating to the operation of the switchboard and registration for all patient types. The role includes working at the Switchboard, in Main Registration, doing bedside registration in the ED, and outpatient registration in the Richards Building. Key duties include processing incoming calls on a multiline phone system, providing information about hospital services and events, handling all hospital codes, monitoring and responding to alarm panels, obtaining correct insurance and demographic information, coordinating verification of preadmission activities with the PFS Office, providing customer service support for PFS to internal and external customers, taking patient payments, and explaining billing questions. All interactions are conducted with utmost courtesy and respect in accordance with the Patient Bill of Rights.

Department Scope of Service

The department is the first line of contact for patients using hospital services. It provides a high level of customer service and guides patients efficiently through the registration process. The department is split into two locations: the Main Building (Switchboard, ED, Main Registration) and the Richards Building (outpatient/lab registration). Switchboard and ED In-Room Registrations are staffed 24/7 including weekends and holidays. Main Registration is staffed Monday–Friday 6:00am–4:00pm, Richards Building Registration Monday–Friday 7:00am–6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.

  • Registration and/or Switchboard experience desirable, preferably in a hospital environment or similar setting.

Compensation Disclosure (Vermont Act 155)

In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.

Salary Range: 18 – 26.22
