Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Olathe is seeking a Patient Access Representative for FT days in the Olathe Medical Pavilion. The role focuses on greeting patients, collecting demographics and insurance information, and guiding them through registration and appointment scheduling.

You will work a Monday–Friday 8am–4:30pm schedule, be the first contact for patients, handle payments and communications with insurance, and collaborate with the care team to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

  • Customer service skills are monitored for excellence.
  • Greeting patients and visitors in outpatient registration areas.
  • Verifies patient information and collects insurance information.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers in prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verifies patient information and assures that patient completes and signs appropriate paperwork.
  • Compiles and maintains forms/documents in the patient’s medical record.
  • Maintains appointment scheduling system and no-show procedures.
  • Answers telephone promptly and routes calls to staff.
  • Collects patient co-pay and balances accounts.
  • Prepares office batches and balances payments.
  • Liaises between patient and medical staff and insurance for referrals.
  • Checks out patients and schedules future appointments.
  • Maintains front desk and waiting area.
  • Participates as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.
