Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior healthcare field, patient registration experience, accurate data collection, health insurance experience, detail oriented, knowledge of medical terminology.
• BLS certification or obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, families, physicians and visitors to Ohio County Healthcare in person or by telephone.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and other departments.
• Handle incoming calls and faxes, distribute mail, deliveries and messages.
• Register patients, including preregistration and scheduling tests or visits.
• Verify demographic and insurance information and collect required paperwork.
• Identify insurance coverages and determine primary, secondary and tertiary.
• Enter data into the electronic medical record and manage charts.
• Collect co-pays and assist with billing issues; close cash drawer and deposit funds.
• Coordinate patient activities across departments and assist as needed.
• Maintain registration desk and forms inventory; comply with HIPAA and safety rules.
