Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist for the University of Arizona Cancer Center at St. Joseph's in Downtown Phoenix. The role handles patient admissions, demographics, insurance verification, and payment questions to ensure prompt reimbursement and a positive first impression.

Per diem (as needed), weekday shifts within 7:00 am–5:00 pm; no weekends. Onsite at 625 N 6th St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 with two weeks of paid training and an onsite cafe.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in hospital patient registration or clinical setting.
• 1+ year of customer service experience.
• 1+ year of experience with insurance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect demographics and health information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patient visits.
• Answer questions about payment responsibilities and options.
• Collect co-pays and patient liabilities at point of service.
• Enter information accurately into hospital computer systems.
• Scan documents and organize patient services and referrals.
• Register and pre-register patients for emergent and scheduled cases.
• Work with Patient Registration and EMR systems; generate reports.
