Job summary

White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD seeks an experienced Patient Access Registrar II to support hospital registration, bed control, and admissions processes. You will collaborate with clinical staff and other departments to ensure accurate documentation and efficient patient placement.

The role requires ≥3 years in healthcare and patient registration/eligibility, with knowledge of payer rules. Part-time schedule includes rotating shifts and weekend coverage; comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a healthcare environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in patient registration and/or eligibility and benefits.
  • Requires working knowledge of government payer rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of TPLs, workers' compensation and other payment sources.

Responsibilities

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Patient Access Registrar II for our Patient Access Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Patient Access Registrar II, you will:

  • Supports hospital registration processes, performs, and enforces all activities which involve the placement and movement of patients, monitoring efficient transfers and discharges. Maintain accuracy in documentation of death certificates and morgue throughput.
  • Acts as a liaison between Patient Access and Clinical staff consistently representing Patient Access in a professional manner.
  • Assist in Optimizing Bed Control training with other staff.
  • Collaborates with other departments, physicians, and administration for optimizing bed usage and to ensure placement efficiency.
  • Coordinates bed placement according to hospital guidelines and/or given staffing guidelines.
  • Assesses admissions for appropriateness and collaborates with others for optimal plans in compliance with payers and inpatient criteria.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a healthcare environment. Can include insurers or public health setting as well.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in patient registration and/or eligibility and benefits.
  • Requires working knowledge/training in government payer rules and regulations.
  • Requires working knowledge/training regarding TPLs, WC, and other payment sources and liabilities.
  • Some college or post HS education preferred.
  • Frequent pressure due to time constraints
  • Requires judgment that could affect performance and the image of the organization.
  • Frequently works at PC involving focused concentration.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling/crouching, sitting etc.
  • Light physical effort (lifts or carries up to 10lbs)
  • Atmosphere and environment associated with a hospital setting.
  • Must always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
Work Schedule

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours per Week: 20 hours/week

Typical Daily Schedule: 3 days during the week for lunch coverage. 7p-11p and rotating weekends 7a-330p.

Shift Type: Rotating Day Shift

Holiday Requirements: Follow the company holiday calendar

Pay Range

$19.64 - $25.65
