Job summary

Praxis Health is seeking a detail-oriented Referral & Authorization Specialist to coordinate patient referrals and manage prior authorization requirements for medications, imaging, procedures, and specialty services.

This role supports a high-volume healthcare workflow and requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payer guidelines, and effective collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years healthcare experience, especially in referrals/authorizations.
• Experience with EHR and payer portals.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume workload.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals and prior authorizations for specialty care and imaging.
• Review insurance coverage and determine requirements.
• Submit requests via payer portals, phone, or fax.
• Verify documentation for completeness and request missing items.
• Maintain accurate documentation in EHR/practice management systems.
• Communicate with providers, payers, and outside facilities to resolve issues.
• Track status and follow up to support timely processing.
• Record approvals, denials, and requests for information.
