Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Financial Representative to collect, review and document demographic, insurance and financial information from patients. You will liaise with Patient Financial Services to resolve billing and payment issues while adhering to Mayo Clinic policies to ensure optimal reimbursement.
The role requires strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, with familiarity with Windows/Word/Excel and medical terminology optional.

Candidates must live within 100 miles of campus. Collects, reviews, discusses, and documents demographic, insurance, and financial information with patients and Patient Financial Services. Acts as a liaison between the Department, Patient Financial Services, and the patient. Responds to and resolves a variety of account, billing and payment issues from patients and customers. Follows approved guidelines and policies regarding routine patient and payer interactions. Makes independent decisions that require individual and/or team analysis, reasoning, and problem solving. Interprets, applies and communicates Mayo Clinic policies regarding medical and financial aspects of patient care to assure optimal reimbursement for both the patient and Mayo Clinic. This individual must accurately document interactions and interpret interactions documented by others. Must have excellent customer service skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and Patient Financial Services, via incoming and outgoing phone calls or face to face interactions.
Minimum of an Associate Degree in business or related field or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance, collections, customer service, insurance and/or health care environment in related field.Bachelor degree in business or health care field preferred. Qualified candidates must be customer-focused, service-oriented and possess demonstrated skills in team building, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, interaction, coping and versatility. Knowledge of personal computer applications such as Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, medical terminology, coding, Order Communication System and patient accounting system is helpful. Keyboarding experience required. Experience as a Financial Representative is beneficial. Candidates with strong communication skills and a transplant/oncology background preferred.
