Most of the information submitted on a claim derives from an Access team member, who is primarily responsible for completing a thorough admissions process of all inpatients and outpatients. Exemplary customer service skills are crucial; the Patient Access Coordinator must ensure that accurate information is collected, maintain sensitivity to confidentiality, and inform patients of their rights as determined by HIPAA regulations and company policy. Extensive insurance experience/training is vital to success within this role. The employee will maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory body requirements regarding access services. Verifying insurance eligibility, compliance, point of service estimates, and collections are part of their responsibilities.
