Job Description:

Patient Access is a multi-disciplinary function carried out at the point of service areas of the medical office. Patient Access Coordinators perform front office duties under the general direction of the Clinical/Practice Manager or designee. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting patients and visitors
  2. Verifying patients' demographic and insurance information
  3. Registering patients
  4. Obtaining necessary signatures
  5. Determining patients' out-of-pocket expenses, collecting and documenting payments and/or providing financial counseling as appropriate
  6. Scheduling appointments
  7. Ensuring patient flow
  8. Managing switchboard and medical records

Key skills required are customer service, clerical skills, fiduciary responsibility, and accuracy.

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer skills
  • Reliable, independent transportation

Preferred qualifications include clerical experience in a medical office setting and additional education.
