Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore is seeking a Practice Communications Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for patients. You will handle call center activities, schedule appointments, process Rx refills through Epic, and manage referrals to enhance the patient experience.

The role requires strong computer skills, excellent communication, and the ability to multi-task in a hospital setting while promoting teamwork and Mercy’s mission.

Qualifications

• Must have strong computer proficiency and ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Outlook; Epic/Meditech if applicable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; able to work independently and make decisions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, time management, and teamwork to support a busy clinic environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls to the Centralized Communication Center in a polite, professional manner.
• Schedule office appointments and procedures; take accurate phone messages and Rx refill requests.
• Send Rx refills through Epic to provider pools and ensure referrals are in the system.
• Provide patients with information on physicians, directions, and educational materials; assist with patient packets and scanning.
