Position Summary

We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. The position is onsite at Bon Secours - St Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. Compensation is $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience. The candidate must be able to work on site.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, and provide proper patient instructions.
• Collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and use the overlay tool.
• Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls while providing compassionate customer service.
• Achieve point‑of‑service goals and utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts.
• Conduct audits of accounts, ensuring all forms are completed accurately and timely to meet audit standards, and provide statistical data to leadership.
• Pre‑register patient accounts prior to visits, obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information, and collect point‑of‑service collections and past‑due balances with payment plan options.
• Explain treatment consent forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents such as Medicare, Tricare, Observation, MOON, and other required forms.
• Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select the applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to support point‑of‑service collections and billing processes.
• Screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice software and distribute ABN as appropriate.
• Document and distribute other designated forms and pamphlets.
