Job summary

Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, RI is seeking a Patient Access Associate to receive, process, and register patients for most outpatient and inpatient services, collecting demographic, physician, and insurance information with care.

You will handle pre-registration for Diagnostic Imaging and direct admissions, complete registration paperwork, assign beds and rooms, and provide clerical support while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Registers patients entering the hospital for most outpatient and inpatient services, including pre-registrations for Diagnostic Imaging Services as well as direct admits to the hospital.
• Completes all necessary forms and procedures for registration/admission process.
• Obtains patient financial information to ensure proper payment of hospital service provided.
• Assigns bed and room accommodations.
• Provides clerical support to the department as needed.
• Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
• Participates in functions to achieve overall department goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Performs other job-related duties as required or directed.
• High School diploma required; Associates degree preferred or at least two years equivalent experience in a health care environment. Knowledge of third party payers preferred. Excellent typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment necessary. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and be proficient in the English language. Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing, statistical tools such as Lotus 1-2-3 and other computer applications preferred.
