Job summary

Intermountain Health in Miles City, Montana, is seeking a Patient Access Registration Specialist I to support reception, enrollment, and scheduling for patients and visitors. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and guide patients through the care journey while ensuring privacy and accuracy of records.

The role supports a 24-hour cap? schedule with 1pm-9:30pm shifts, including weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient computer skills incl. MS Office, internet and email.
• Experience with Epic preferred.
• Customer service experience, healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients/visitors courteously and professionally.
• Obtain and verify patient demographics, financial, and insurance data.
• Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, procedures.
• Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, balances due at service.
• Provide information on financial assistance, payment plans, charity care.
• Explain and obtain signatures on consent forms, policies, disclosures.
• Provide directions, maps, and parking information.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure smooth patient flow and care quality.
• Document and update patient records in the electronic health system.
• Follow up on pending issues such as prior authorizations, referrals, pre-certifications.

Job Description

A Patient Access Registration Specialist I is responsible for providing excellent customer service and facilitating the registration and scheduling process for patients and visitors at Intermountain Health. The caregiver ensures that accurate and complete information is collected and entered into the system, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects co-pays and balances, and follows up on pending issues. The caregiver also adheres to Intermountain Health's policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.

Shifts

Shifts are 1pm-9:30pm rotating schedule- Every other Weekend off

Essential Functions

• Greet and assist patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

• Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for caregiver to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.


• Frequent interactions with customers that require caregiver to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.


• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.


• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.


• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
