Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a New Patient Abstractor to support chart abstraction and coordination for new patients. The role emphasizes accurate, timely abstracts prior to the initial appointment and acting as a resource for moderately complex charts.

Hours are flexible between 7:30AM-4:30PM MST, with oncology experience highly preferred. The abstractor will partner with Intake leadership to align with department and corporate strategies and objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma required.
• 2-3 years of experience in the medical field, preferably oncology.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and summarize new patient charts prior to initial appointment.
• Serve as a point of contact for moderately complex charts.

The New Patient Abstractor abstracts and summarizes new patient charts, serves as a point of contact for moderately complex charts, and working within pre-defined methods, tactics and procedures to impact department goals.

The overall standard is accurate completion of new patient abstracts prior to the initial appointment and serving as a resource with in-depth and broad knowledge on patient charts. The New Patient Abstractor is expected to partner with Intake leadership to understand the department and corporate strategy and operating objectives.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Minimum Experience: minimum 2-3 years of experience in the medical field, preferably oncology.
