Qualifications

• Minimum two years of previous health care environment job-related experience preferred.
• Must have access to reliable transportation and communication.
• Proof of auto insurance may be required.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 1 year driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Accession all tissue specimens and make cassettes.
• Assist pathologist and pathologist assistants in cutting room.
• Perform frozen sections (location dependent).
• Hang tissue on processors and determine specimens for grossing.
• Photograph specimens and prepare tissue for out-testing (e.g. Lymphoma Phenotyping).
• Operate the Faxitron for specimen radiographs.
• Maintain logs and quality control charts for equipment in accession and cutting room.
• Maintain clean work area and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
• Perform routine maintenance on cryostats and run QC reports.
• Handle calls about reports and follow procedures updated in manuals.
