Job summary

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center seeks a Pathology Specialist for a full-time, day shift. The role uses the LIS to assist staff and clients, accessioning specimens, supporting cytology and transcription, and tracking statistics and billing.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), with knowledge of medical terminology and strong communication. Proficiency in Word/Excel/Outlook and Epic Beaker AP experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
• Experience in anatomic pathology preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; Epic Beaker AP experience a plus.
• Strong communication, judgment, and organization; able to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate send-out testing for the department.
• Accession pathology specimens.
• Organize and provide timely reports to Laboratory Manager.
• Assist with department supplies and customer needs.
• Assist with collection and processing of pathology and cytology samples.
• Transcribe dictated pathology reports as needed.
• Assist clients with pathology report retrieval.
• Provide IS support to LIS analyst; act as department super-user.
• Participate in quality assurance tasks, billing, and statistics.
• Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
