Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a full-time AP/CP BC/BE pathologist to fill a position opening due to retirement. We currently have 7 anatomic pathologists and a dedicated clinical pathologist, with preference for Cytopathology, GYN, or GI/Liver fellowship training.

No travel required and strong work-life balance are offered. The team handles a mix of biopsy and complex cases with frozen section responsibility; no grossing or autopsies.

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
• Preference for fellowship training in Cytopathology, GYN, or GI/Liver pathology.
• 3+ years of independent sign-out experience preferred, exceptional candidates considered.

Responsibilities

• Mix of biopsy and complex cases with frozen-section responsibility; no grossing or autopsies.
• Limited clinical laboratory responsibilities and limited hematopathology involvement (sign-out of marrows and lymphoma workups).

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a full-time AP/CP BC/BE pathologist to fill a position opening due to retirement. We currently have 7 anatomic pathologists and a dedicated clinical pathologist. Strong general surgical pathology skills are necessary, with a preference for expertise and/or fellowship training in Cytopathology, GYN pathology, or GI/liver pathology. We also have busy Breast and ENT services. Preference will be given to pathologists with 3+ years independent sign out experience, but exceptional candidates of any training level or subspecialty will be considered.

Position Offers

• Monday-Friday schedule with shared weekend and holiday call (no weekend sign-out)
• No travel required. Great work/life balance
• 36,000+ surgical cases per year; 5300+ non-gyn cytology cases per year
• Mixture of biopsy and complex cases with frozen section responsibility; no grossing required; no autopsies
• Limited clinical laboratory responsibilities. Limited hematopathology work (3 hematopathologists sign-out all marrows and assist in lymphoma workups)
