Job summary

Artivion, Inc., headquartered in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Pathologist to support cardiac tissue donation by providing detailed pathologic findings on residual donor heart tissue for autopsy evaluations.

You will perform examinations as a licensed physician with training in anatomic pathology, communicate critical findings to medical examiners, and participate in national meetings as needed, while ensuring compliance with 21 CFR 1271 and AATB standards.

Qualifications

• Must have MD/DO with post-graduate training in anatomic pathology.
• Experience in cardiovascular/autopsy/forensic pathology is desired.
• Active US medical license required.
• Based in Kennesaw, GA; on-site position at corporate HQ.

Responsibilities

• Perform pathologic examinations in compliance with applicable regulations and SOPs.
• Communicate significant pathologic findings directly to medical examiners and health care professionals when needed.
• Provide professional representation for Artivion at national Medical Examiner and Coroner meetings as required.
• Perform pathology examinations and provide consultative assistance for other Artivion departments as needed.
• Serve as licensed physician designee to review tissue donor records and determine donor eligibility per 21 CFR 1271 and AATB Standards.

Position Overview

The primary objective of the pathologist is to support cardiac tissue donation by providing a detailed report of pathologic findings on residual donor heart tissue. The cardiac pathology report provides critical data required by the medical examiner performing an autopsy on the heart valve donor.

• Experience in cardiovascular pathology, autopsy pathology, and/or forensic pathology is desired.
• The Pathologist must maintain a valid US license.
