Job summary

Jobot seeks an associate with a mechanical or aerospace engineering background to support sophisticated patent matters. Drafting and prosecuting US patent applications across mechanical, aerospace, electrical, software technologies is central to the role.

You should have a J.D. from an accredited law school, bar admission, and 1–3 years of patent prosecution experience, with a strong preference for USPTO registration. Hybrid work and competitive compensation are offered.

Qualifications

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving complex mechanical, aerospace, electrical, software, and related technologies.
  • Strong preference for registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with bar admission.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical/ aerospace/ electrical engineering or CS.
  • Excellent academic credentials and technical writing ability.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving complex mechanical, aerospace, electrical, software, and related technologies.
  • Develop prosecution strategy and counsel clients on building and maximizing IP portfolios.
  • Work closely with engineers, patent strategists, and attorneys.
  • Analyze inventions, prior art, office actions, and claim scope; prepare persuasive responses and amendments.
  • Communicate with inventors, in-house teams, and business stakeholders.
