Job summary

BCG Attorney Search in Summit, NJ seeks a patent attorney associate with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science to join their team. The role involves engaging in patent preparation and prosecution, trademark searching and filing, and drafting license agreements.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of IP experience, be admitted to USPTO, and boast strong communication, independence and teamwork, with solid business judgment.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor’s considered for exceptional candidates.
• Industry experience desired.
• Graduated from a top ABA-accredited law school.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• J.D. and admission to practice law in at least one state, preferably NJ and/or NY.
• Minimum of 2+ years of IP experience in-house or with a law firm.
• Experience in patent preparation, prosecution, and trademark matters.
• Exceptional communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong business judgment and self-motivation; flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment; ability to manage multiple complex legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications.
• Conduct trademark searches and filings.
• Draft and negotiate license agreements.
• Counsel clients on enforcement and avoidance of competitor rights.
• Prepare non-infringement and invalidity opinion letters.
• Advise clients on designing around competitor patents.
